A Beginner's Guide to Your First Group Fitness Class at RISE Training Club
Walking into your first group fitness class can feel intimidating.
You might be wondering:
- Am I fit enough?
- Will I know what I'm doing?
- What if I can't keep up?
- Is everyone going to be watching me?
If you've ever had these thoughts, you're not alone. Almost every member at RISE Training Club started exactly where you are now.
The good news? You don't have to be "in shape" before you join. That's why we're here.
Everyone Starts Somewhere
At RISE Training Club, we believe fitness is for everyone—not just experienced athletes.
Whether you're:
- Brand new to working out
- Returning after taking time off
- Looking for a more supportive environment
- Ready to challenge yourself in a new way
Our coaches are here to help you succeed from day one.
Your only job is to show up. We'll take care of the rest.
What to Expect During Your First Class
A Warm Welcome
From the moment you walk through our doors, you'll be greeted by our coaches and members. We know starting somewhere new can feel overwhelming, so we make it a priority to help you feel comfortable.
If it's your first visit, arrive about 10–15 minutes early so we can:
- Show you around the gym
- Introduce you to your coach
- Answer any questions
- Explain the workout
- Help you get set up
Coach-Led Instruction
Every class is led by an experienced coach who will explain each movement before the workout begins.
Not sure how to perform an exercise?
Just ask.
Our coaches are there to teach—not just count reps. We'll make sure you understand proper technique so you can move safely and confidently.
Workouts That Meet You Where You Are
One of the biggest misconceptions about group fitness is that everyone has to do the exact same workout.
That's simply not true.
At RISE, every workout can be scaled to your current fitness level.
That means we can modify:
- Weights
- Repetitions
- Movements
- Intensity
Whether you're lifting your first dumbbell or training for your next competition, you'll get an effective workout designed for you.
What Should You Bring?
Keep it simple.
We recommend bringing:
- Athletic shoes
- A water bottle
- A positive attitude
We'll handle everything else.
Don't Worry About Keeping Up
One of the biggest fears beginners have is falling behind.
Here's the truth:
Fitness isn't about racing the person next to you.
It's about becoming a little stronger than you were yesterday.
Our members all work at different speeds and ability levels, and that's exactly how it should be. You'll never be expected to perform beyond what you're ready for.
Your progress is your own.
You'll Be Part of a Community
The workouts are great.
The community is what keeps people coming back.
One of the biggest advantages of group fitness is having people around you who encourage you, celebrate your wins, and support you through the tough days.
At RISE Training Club, you'll quickly discover that everyone remembers what it was like to be the new person—and they're excited to help you succeed.
Progress Happens One Class at a Time
Don't expect perfection after one workout.
Instead, focus on consistency.
Your first class becomes your second.
Your second becomes your tenth.
Before you know it, you'll be lifting more weight, moving with greater confidence, and accomplishing things you never thought possible.
Every experienced member at RISE started with just one class.
Ready to Get Started?
The hardest part is walking through the door for the first time.
After that, you won't be doing it alone.
If you've been waiting for the "perfect time" to start your fitness journey, this is your sign.
Come meet our coaches, experience the energy of our community, and discover what makes RISE Training Club different.
We'll meet you where you are—and help you become stronger than you ever imagined.
